Pic_FTIS.jpgQuest TruTec's proprietary technology, FTIS™, is an intelligent pig capable of rapid automated UT (ultrasonic) inspection of convection and radiant furnace tubes as well as difficult-to-inspect piping/pipelines up to 5 miles (8 kilometers) in length.  Standard reporting capabilities range from standard line plots and tables to graphical 3-Dimensional (3D) pipe layouts (as seen to the right) allowing for accurate and timely risk-based decisions for resource management.

FTIS™ Case Studies

Features

  • Capable of inspecting 4" to 8” diameter piping / tubing
  • Pipe / tube wall thicknesses up to 0.8” (20 mm)
  • Simultaneously measures wall thickness, average wall thickness, pit depth, inside radius, average radius, and axial position

Benefits

  • Capable of detecting pipe / tube wall loss
    • Corrosion (internal / external)
    • Erosion (internal / external)
    • Pitting (internal / external)
    • Mechanical damage (internal / external)
  • Capable of detecting deformation
    • Bulging (i.e. flame impingement)
    • Swelling (i.e. creep strain)
    • Denting
    • Ovality
  • Proprietary 3-Dimensional (3D) reports allow for improved resource management as well as operational analysis
  • Performs non-contact in-situ measurements
  • Survives harsh hydraulic inspection environments
  • Inspects both convection and radiant section or entire pipe length at
2 feet (61 cm) per second
  • Negotiates unlimited short radius (1D) return bends
  • No scaffolding required
  • Engineering analysis available through LifeQuest™

Applications

  • Fired / Process Heaters
    • Numerous furnace types (Platformers, CCR, vacuum, coker,
      crude, can, cabin, etc.)
    • Various coil configurations (vertical, horizontal, u-shape, etc.)
    • Changing piping diameters throughout coil's length (4”, 5”, 6”, and 8”)
    • Non-piggable furnaces in some cases (i.e. common headers)
  • Pipelines
    • Underground / buried / road crossings
    • Insulated (i.e. asbestos)
    • Overhead (i.e. congested pipe racks)
    • In plant / between plants / wharf Lines
  • 4-8” diameter pipelines – under 5 miles (8 kilometers) in length
