Exchanger.jpg

Most processes which require the use of heat employ the use of an exchanger. The heat exchanger is a device built to transfer heat from one medium to another. Exchangers are widely used in chemical processing, power production, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other such processes.

Exchangers which are classified as “tube in shell” contain a large number of tubes for the purpose of increasing the surface area used for heat transfer. The amount of surface area can be further increased by outfitting the tubes with external fins.

Damage mechanisms such as corrosion, pitting, erosion, etc. will eventually damage individual tubes. This damage, if left undetected and uncorrected, will ultimately result in tube failure which has the potential of being catastrophic to the process or plant. Quest TruTec's proprietary LOTIS® technology allows plants to assess critical exchanger tube irregardless of the presence of fins.
